Description
Español: Llegó a territorio americano con el segundo adelantado del Río de la Plata, Don Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca”. Cuando la flota llega al puerto de Santa Catalina en el año 1541, ya ostentaba el grado de Capitán. Si bien se ha repetido durante mucho tiempo el mismo rango de Don Ñuflo, los documentos de la época posteriores a la fundación de Santa Cruz siempre lo mencionan como “el general Chaves”; pues desde que puso pie en este continente trabajó incansablemente y ascendió a esa responsabilidad gracias a su gran talla humana.
