Description
Deutsch: Nach der Eruption am 18. Mai 1980 wies Mount St. Helens nur noch eine Erhöhung von 2.550 Metern und einen 1,5km breiten, hufeisenförmigen Krater auf, hier von Nordwesten gesehen. Die Mulden im Vordergrund entstanden durch phreatische Explosionen inmitten der Gerölllawine.
English: After the May 18, 1980 eruption, Mount St. Helens’ elevation was only 8,364 feet (2,550 meters) and the volcano had a one-mile-wide (1.5 kilometers) horseshoe-shaped crater. View here is from the northwest. Pits in the foreground are phreatic explosion pits within the debris avalanche.
