[edit]DescriptionMK Dons 0 Brighton & Hove Albion 0 - geograph.org.uk - 1846056.jpg |
English: MK Dons 0 Brighton & Hove Albion 0, near to Simpson, Milton Keynes, Great Britain.
This was typical end of season fare at the stadium:mk, with nothing hanging on the game, enlivened only by an outbreak of handbags at the end of the first half when MK Don's player and coach Alex Rae, setting a fine example to his players, managed to get himself and the Albion's Diego Arismendi sent off. Spot the ball from this action from the second half when the Albion's Elliott Bennett, red shirt, white boots, far left, attempted a free kick on MK Don's goal that drifted narrowly wide. stadium:mk was opened in 2007 and currently has a ground capacity of 22,000. The official attendance for this game was a surprisingly high 12,023 implying that the ground was more than half full. The upper tier, partially visible top left but the same around most of the rest of the stadium, is just stepped concrete without any seats at the moment, but does offer the opportunity to expand the stadium's capacity to 40,000. In 2009 the stadium was put forward as one of 15 potential grounds for holding matches should an England World Cup bid be successful, in which case the extra seating would be installed. The stadium is not yet shown on the currently available Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 scale mapping. The stewarding of the away end at this game left a lot to be desired, with one steward in particular making seriously inflammatory gestures towards the Albion supporters. In the end he had to be replaced and was led away by the chief steward to a resounding chorus of "Cheerio, cheerio, cheerio, cheerio, cheerio, cheerio..." from the Albion faithful. His replacement, a somewhat elderly gentleman, made a grand and steady entry down the stadium steps, taking a great deal of delight in slowly putting on a pair of enormous black gloves, as if there might be something hazardous and nasty lurking deep in the Albion crowd that he might have to deal with. Finally a message to the stewards in the foreground here, you're meant to be watching the crowd, mateys... World Cup, you're 'aving a larf. |
