Description

El ministro de Defensa, Pedro Cateriano Bellido, participó en la celebración litúrgica realizada en el Convento de los Descalzos en el Rímac, en conmemoración de los 180 años del natalicio del Gran Almirante Miguel Grau Seminario.


La misa fue oficiada por el administrador del Obispado Castrense, monseñor Guillermo Inca Pereda, quien en su homilía recordó la gran devoción católica que profesaba el héroe de Angamos y Peruano del Milenio.


Precisamente, fue en la Capilla de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles del Convento de los Descalzos donde Grau acudió a orar y encomendar a Dios su vida y la de sus hombres, antes de partir al sacrificio por la Patria.


El ministro Cateriano, junto al comandante general de la Marina de Guerra, almirante Carlos Tejada y el alto mando de esta institución, apreció la mencionada capilla y otros ambientes del museo histórico que forma parte del convento fundado en 1595.


También acompañaron al titular del sector Fray Mauro Vallejo OFM, Ministro Provincial de la Orden Franciscana; el presidente de la Fundación Grau, Ernesto Lermo, el representante de Telefónica del Perú, Ludwig Meier, y ex ministros de Marina, entre otras personalidades.


Don Miguel Grau nació el 27 de julio de 1834 en Piura, y antes de comandar el histórico Monitor Huáscar durante la Guerra del Pacífico fue diputado por Paita y férreo defensor de la democracia, además de hombre de familia y ciudadano ejemplar.
