Leonardo Rodriguez watches over his corpsmen treat a casualty in-flight aboard an MV-22 Osprey, during an Osprey casualty evacuation drill, which is part of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s MEU exercise at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., May 9, 2016. Treating casualties in-flight is vital to maximize a patient’s chance of survival as the aircraft is en route to a higher echelon of care. Rodriguez is an emergency physician and the officer-in-charge of Shock Trauma Platoon, Combat Logistics Battalion 11, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
