Description
English: El metoprolol se une selectivamente a los receptores β1 adrenérgicos en el corazón, evitando que las moléculas de adrenalina y noradrenalina se unan a estos receptores. Al bloquear los receptores β1, el metoprolol reduce la estimulación adrenérgica y, por lo tanto, puede disminuir la entrada de calcio y sodio a las células cardíacas. Así el metoprolol inhibe la acción de estas hormonas y reduce su efecto estimulante sobre el corazón.
