Description A MAX train passing a bus on 6th Avenue at Market Street, northbound on the Portland Transit Mall of TriMet, in Portland, Oregon, U.S.A. The transit mall opened for buses in late 1977, but its south end was at Madison Street until 2009. It was closed in 2007 for renovation and rebuilding, including the addition of light rail (MAX) tracks and extension of the mall south of Madison Street (including the section shown here), and reopened in 2009.
The MAX train shown here, a two-car train of Siemens SD660 low-floor LRVs (light rail vehicles) built in the late 1990s, is in service on the Green Line and is headed for the Clackamas area.
