Summary

[edit]
Description This is a piece of computer hardware developed in the early 1950s by scientists at Los Alamos. Computers use registers to do arithmetic, and this particular computer, called MANIAC from the acronym of its full name, could do thousands of operations per second. The latest computers at Los Alamos can do trillions of operations a second. This is part of an exhibit in the Bradbury Science Museum dedicated to computing at Los Alamos and showing how computers have evolved over the years.
