English: MAJESTIC Clipper ship sailing card. CLIPPER SHIP FOR SAN FRANCISCO, MAJESTIC... I.S. LUCAS... COMMANDER. Coated card stock, 4 1/8 x 7 1/4 inches. The Majestic, 1117 tons, built in Portland, Maine in 1866, and lost in 1892 off San Francisco. (See Fairburn p. 1700.) The lengthy text states that consignments are “now rapidly closing off.” The overprinted text in diagonally oriented black type, “Under Government Bonds TO SAIL POSTIVELY February 1st, 1867.” |
