Summary

[edit]
Description

The glass encased dry dock, next to Framsenteret in Tromsø, containing the sealing vessel M/S Polstjerna.

M/S Polstjerna was built at Moens Båtbyggeri in Risør, Norway, in 1949 as one of the last in its class. It went into the seal hunting trade the same year it was built and over the next 33 years brought home almost 100,000 seals. Today M/S Polstjerna is the best preserved ship that took part in seal hunting.
