kutsk sah.Zu Folge einer mündlichen Mittheilung, welche derdamals in Irkutsk lebende, jetzige Erzbischof vonJaroslaw (Nil) Hrn. Schtschukin machte, wurde das-selbe von einem Geistlichen gefunden, der dem ge-nannten hohen geistlichen Würdenträger darüber be-richtete und ihm gleichzeitig einen Fuss des Thiersnach Irkutsk einsandte. Die Mammuthleiche lag un-ter einer dicken Erdschicht an einem Flusse und warvom Ufer desselben durch Wasser losgespült worden,so dass ein Theil des Ufers nebst dem Mammuth her-unterstürzte. Die fragliche Mammuthleiche zeigtevom Halse bis zum Schwänze eine rothbraune Mähne,deren Haare sehr dick und barsch waren und bis zuden Knieen derselben herabhingen. Die den Kopf be-deckenden Haare hatten eine braune Farbe, eine Längevon zwei Werschock (— 98 Millim.) und fühlten sichweich an. Der Gegenwart eines Rüssels geschah kei-ner Erwähnung.
