| Description |
English: Lymington Pier Station The branch line shuttle service between Lymington and Brockenhurst is currently operated by classic Southern Region electric multiple units, which no longer comply with crashworthiness standards for passenger use on the main line. This is a delight for railway enthusiasts and anyone else seeking a taste of nostalgia; the green livery and the 1950s-style station sign - reflected in the cab window - add to the effect. But this is not a preserved 'heritage' railway and the reality is that operating a tiny non-standard fleet for such limited use is not a viable proposition and South West Trains have indicated that the units will be replaced by more modern stock in the near future. |
