Summary
[edit]DescriptionLych Gate cottages from Trinity Lane - geograph.org.uk - 1009581.jpg |
English: Lych Gate cottages from Trinity Lane Tree ring analysis on the timbers in the building suggests that some of them were felled from 1414 to 1415 with the assumption being that the structures were built not long afterwards. The earliest documentary reference to the buildings that can be identified with certainty is dated 1583. They were repaired in 1855 when taken over by the Blue Coat school. Additions to the side and rear were made at this time.
At the left end is a taller 20th century building clad in black and white to merge with the older cottages. |
