Description
English: Lviv- Lychakiv Cemetery - Tomb of Jozef Kallenbach (1861 - 1929) - a Polish historian of literature.
Polski: Lwów - Cmentarz Łyczakowski - Grobowiec Józefa Kallenbacha - Urodzony 24 listopada 1861 Kamieńcu Podolskim , zm. 12 września 1929 w Krakowie - historyk literatury polskiej.

Ukończył Państwowe IV Gimnazjum Męskie im. Jana Długosza typu staroklasycznego we Lwowie. Był profesorem historii literatury polskiej na Uniwersytecie Lwowskim (od 1904) i Jagiellońskim (był też profesorem uniwersytetu we Fryburgu, Warszawie i Wilnie), członkiem Akademii Umiejętności, członkiem zamiejscowym Towarzystwa Naukowego we Lwowie, dyrektorem Muzeum i Biblioteki Czartoryskich w Krakowie.

Wykładał literaturę polską przedrozbiorową i romantyzm. W okresie lwowskim Kallenbach badał przede wszystkim twórczość Mickiewicza i Krasińskiego, zajął się też Słowackim. Ważne i niektóre cenne do dziś są jego prace dotyczące literatury staropolskiej.

24 kwietnia 1929 Uniwersytet Poznański przyznał mu tytuł doktora honoris causa.

Choć zmarł w Krakowie, ma grób na cmentarzu Łyczakowskim, gdyż uważał Lwów za swoje miasto.
