Abbaye Royale de Bois-Aubry. L'origine de l'abbaye remonte au XIIe siècle (Bosco Alberici). Son architecture d'abord romane (XIIe siècle) a été remodelée au cours des siècles: - XIIe: Eglise (avec nef romane, choeur, abside semi-circulaire et absidioles semi-circulaires d'origine, clocher à la croisée du transept actuellement disparu), salle capitulaire, dortoir des moines, cuisines, réfectoire (disparu) - XIIIe-XIVe: revisitation du chevet (plat), des absidioles et de la nef - XVe: clocher hors d'oeuvre , jubé, fortifications, porterie - XVIIe-XVIIIe: porte monumentale (sud du cloître) - XXe: restauration partielle du clocher et de la salle capitulaire (Observatoire du Patrimoine Religieux). Vers 1110-1120, un ermite et ses disciples s'installent au lieu-dit "Bosco Alberici" (le bois d'Albéric), sur des terres données par Brice seigneur de Chillou (actuellement sur la commune de Jaulnay) et y fondent un oratoire dédié à Saint-Michel. Vers 1138, la communauté de Bois-Aubry devient prieuré dépendant de l’Abbaye de la Sainte Trinité de Tiron (Eure-et-Loir). Au XVe siècle, l'intervention royale de Louis XI permettra la reconstruction de l'abbaye suite aux dommages de la guerre de Cent Ans. Dans la trentaine d'abbés qui se sont succédés on remarque en 1544 Charles de Ronsard, qui est le frère de Pierre de Ronsard, un des sept poètes de la Pléiade. Pendant les guerres de Religion l'abbaye sera ravagée pillée et brûlée par les huguenots. Déjà en décadence, la communauté de Bois-Aubry fut supprimée sous la révolution. Les bâtiment de l'Abbaye devinrent une ferme jusqu'à son rachat par l'Eglise Orthodoxe de France en 1978. En 2006, l'Abbaye est rachetée par un particulier. Dans le cimetière de l'abbaye, repose l'acteur Yul Brynner : "L'acteur Yul Brynner décéde à New York en octobre 1985, il est incinéré et ses cendres sont transférées par sa dernière épouse dans leur propriété de Normandie. Lorsque la veuve de Yul Brynner décide de vendre leur propriété normande, elle cherche un autre lieu d'accueil pour son époux. A la même époque, l'Abbaye de Bois Aubry est occupée par une communauté de moines orthodoxes dont l'un d'eux est un ami de la famille Brynner. L'urne sera donc transportée en Touraine et un cimetière spécialement dédié à Yul Brynner sera créé."
