Saint Genevieve Church. The present church of Gothic type, date from 1874 to 1875. The interior is typical of windows and furniture made in the late nineteenth century. In 1855 Bishop MORLOT, Archbishop of Tours blessed the four bells of St. Genevieve Church of Luynes, newly rebuilt after the destruction by fire of the building dating from the fifteenth century. These four bells had the distinction of sound emitting a perfect agreement. However, in recent decades these bells no longer ring and only the ringing of one of them came to remind people of their presence in the town. These four bells sick of oxidation can not be repaired. Given the danger they represented by threatening to fall out of their bail handle, they had to be immobilized. It was therefore decided to recast the four bells. |
