Summary

[edit]
Description Being a cave, the details are not immediately obvious, but decorated ceiling apart, here is another surprise in the dare I say luxurious Queen Tamar's Hall cave residence in Uplistsikhe. This is a dome or skylight deep inside the cave. Of course, if a hole can be cut into the roof of some of the caves for smoke escape (see previous pictures), this skylight is probably not all that surprising, but I was surprised at the decorative flower shaped netting on it. I don't think it would have been fitted with glass in those days though- there was no glass now when we saw it anyway. (Uplistsikhe, Georgia, Sept. 2016)
