| Description |
English: Lunt Roman Fort A fort was first established here on the bank of the River Sowe in about AD60, although there is evidence that it was developed in three separate phases. It was long known that this area was rich in Roman finds, but the first excavation did not take place until 1960 with the main work being done between 1965 and 1973. Much has since been done by Coventry City Council to interpret the site for visitors; the 'gyrus' (horse training ring) can be seen in the foreground with the reconstructed granary behind. The granary building houses a museum and shop. |
