Description
English: "Lunar Landing Research Vehicle outside NASA Langley hangar. The LLRV was later shipped to Houston to train astronauts for landing the Lunar Module."
NOTE! - This file name is mislabeled. Original nasa.gov source has photo misidentified as the LLRV.

The vehicle shown is actually the Lunar Excursion Module Simulator (LEMS) that was used at the LLRF (Lunar Landing Research Facility) at Langley. The LLRV was a free-flying vehicle, while this LEMS vehicle only flew tethered, hanging from the huge gantry at the LLRF site.

For proper identification, see http://www.nasa.gov/centers/langley/multimedia/road2apollo-17_prt.htm
