Description
English: Maximtschuk memorial stone in Lübben, Landkreis Dahme-Spreewald, Brandenburg, Germany. The memorial is situated on Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Street (Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Straße) at the Umflutkanal.
Deutsch: Der Maximtschukstein an der Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Straße in Lübben, Landkreis Dahme-Spreewald, Brandenburg, Deutschland. Es handelt sich um einen Gedenkstein für Pjotr Danilowitsch Maximtschuk. Der sowjetische Soldat wollte am 8. August 1965 im Lübbener Umflutkanal zwei Jugendliche retten, wobei er tödlich verunglückte. Die Kinder konnten sich schließlich selbst retten. Für seine mutige Tat wurde dem Soldaten an der Unglücksstelle dieser Gedenkstein errichtet. Zusätzlich wurde 1968 ein von Heinz Mamat geschaffenes Bronzerelief, das den Hergang in Bildern erzählt, an der damaligen 4. Polytechnischen Oberschule Lübben aufgestellt.
