Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Lucums: going, going, gone
The derelict Great Northern Railway's goods warehouse near Derby's former Friargate station is almost triangular in plan, being narrower at the end further from the camera. On the south face of the building were three lucums, small cantilevered cabins in which a man could stand to haul in sacks of, for example, grain, lifted from railway wagons or lorries below for temporary storage. The furthest one is almost intact, the middle one has been reduced to its frame, and the nearest has vanished except for the stone bosses in the wall on either side that supported curved wooden brackets. The photographer adds that he supports the implication in the graffiti on the bricked-up end doorway concerning illegal drugs.
