Lucheux (Somme, France) -
Détail de l'intérieur de l'église : chapiteau roman.
Ce chapiteau (numéroté 11 dans le fascicule de 24 pages diffusé par l'Office de tourisme du Doullennais, Lucheux - Merveilles romanes - Les Chapiteaux de l'église Saint-Léger) représente 2 animaux murmurant aux oreilles d'un homme.
On remarque aussi que l'astragale (petite moulure en forme de boudin entre le chapiteau et la colonne) est très simple et sans motifs décoratifs.

Il est très vraisemblable que le chapiteau représente une allégorie d'un des 7 péchés capitaux, l'envie. En effet, l'animal de gauche est un chien et celui de droite est un serpent, figures symboliques traditionnelles de l'envie dans l’iconographie chrétienne.
Il faut pourtant noter que l'homme au centre porte sur la poitrine et le ventre une sacoche carrée, suspendue à son cou par une lanière. Or, la présence d'une bourse ou d'un sac sur des chapitaux d'autres églises romanes fait référence à un autre péché capital, l'avarice.


Doit-on penser alors que ce chapiteau a été conçu pour représenter 2 péchés en même temps ?
