Object history Aus einer Serie von wahrscheinlich 14 Mitteltafeln für die Altäre in der Kirche des ehemaligen Dominikanerklosters zu Cölln, die Joachim II. zur Grablege und Stiftskirche weihen ließ. Die Seitentafeln dieser Altäre existieren nicht mehr; entworfen und konzipiert von Cranach dem Älteren, mit dessen Schlangensignatur. Ausgeführt jedoch von seinem Sohn und Mitarbeitern der Werkstatt; als Vorbild diente vermutlich die Ausstattung des Halleschen Doms;
