Stephen Hartley explains the purpose of the central control station during an engineering personnel swap between the USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) and the Singaporean Navy ship RSS Formidable (68) as part of CARAT Singapore. The Freedom is currently participating in Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Singapore 2013. More than 1,200 Sailors and Marines are participating in CARAT. CARAT is a series of bilateral military exercises between the U.S. Navy and the armed forces of Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Timor Leste.
