Description

Loxospora ochrophaea (Tuck.) R.C. Harris, 1990

Photograph of an ascus from an apothecium of Loxospora ochrophaea taken through a compound microscope (x1000) showing 8, colorless, fusiform spores per ascus.

L. ochrophaea was growing on bark on along the trail up Black Mountain, just S of Tunk Lake, and NE of Ellsworth (44o35' N,   68o06' W,   elevation 200 meters), Hancock County, Maine; collected by E.C. Uebel, identified by Dr. Irwin Brodo (No. U-522, 11 Jul 2005).
