Summary
[edit]DescriptionLower Chalk cliffs, White Nothe - geograph.org.uk - 1005340.jpg |
English: Lower Chalk cliffs, White Nothe The exposed chalk gives White Nothe its name, although apparently it is not as white as it once was (due to the slopes grassing over). This lower section of the cliff is to the west of the headland, viewed from sea level. The Lower Chalk rests on Upper Greensand. Ian West's internet field guide to the geology of the Wessex Coast says that the cyclical appearance of the foot of White Nothe is due to hard chalk beds and softer marly beds. |
