Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This is the grave stone of one of the revered Americans (in his civilian life he was a mechanical engineer from Whitney Point, USA) who fought for the British Empire against the Boers during the Second Anglo-Boer war of 1899-1902. He was killed in action at the Battle of Sand River at the Virginia siding (14 June 1900). He is believed to have built ..., and named it after the area of his home country. After 73 years his remains and grave were removed to a military cemetery. It is arguably the biggest tomb stone in South Africa, now located in Kroonstad, Free State province.
