| Description |
English: Lough Leane This is Lough Leane viewed from Brickeen Bridge, with the islands of Derby's Garden visible in the distance. The photo was taken on a windy day after a period of heavy rain and water levels were high with a strong current flowing under Brickeen Bridge into Muckross Lake, as evidenced by the wave patterns in the centre of the image.
Lough Leane covers about 19 square kilometres, but because of the numerous islands and peninsulas sticking out into it, there is, according to the OSI 1:50,000 scale map, only one grid square kilometre of the lake V9190 that can be described as "all at sea", although V9288 only has a tiny triangle of land in its very south-westernmost corner. |
