Description Lot-9436-20: Men Who Ran MacArthur Through Japanese Blockade Back in U.S. on Furlough. Lieutenant John D. Bulkeley, U.S. hero of Subic Bay, is seen with members of his torpedo-boat squadron after arrival in the U.S. for short furloughs. From left to right: Ensign A.B. Akers, Lieutenant Robert B. Kelly, Lieutenant Bulkeley, and Ensign George E. Cox. Naval history in the Philippines was made by the squadron in their successful attacks against the Japanese shipping and their feat of running General Douglas MacArthur and his party through Japanese sea lines in torpedo boats.
