Description Lot-801-37: Guadalcanal Campaign, 7 August 1942 – February 9 1943. Marine Grave in Guadalcanal. The grave of Marine Private William Cameron, killed in the line of duty, September 10, 1942, in the First Marine Division Cemetery, Guadalcanal. Epitaph placed by his comrades reads, “And when he goes to Heaven / St. Peter he will tell / Another Marine reporting, Sir / I’ve served my time in Hell!” U.S. Marine Corps Photograph. Photographed through Mylar sleeve. (2015/11/06).
