Description Lot-741-17: U.S. Coast Guard, WWII. Wounded Coast Guardsman Still Salutes. Loss of his right arm does not prevent Coast Guardsman Thomas Sortino from saluting the colors. Sortino was in charge of a landing barge blasted by an enemy destroyer during the African invasion, Operation Torch, November 1942.
