Description Lot-741-11: U.S. Coast Guard, WWII. Dating Miss Springfield. These cadets at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, are being instructed in handling of the standard Springfield rifle. The future officers are trained in the use of all types of weapons as well as seamanship, that they may better carry out the military duties of the Coast Guard, which had recently added the names of Guadalcanal, Tulagi, and Fedala to its traditions.
