Description
English: Memorial in Hvalba, Suðuroy, Faroe Islands in memory of people lost at sea. The name of the persons on the memorial also include people who lost their lives in the coal mines or by other accidents, i.e. by falling down from the island Lítla Dímun or from a cliff in or around Hvalba.
Føroyskt: Minnisvarðin í Hvalba. Minnisvarðin er ikki bara minnisvarði teirra sjólætnu men eisini til minnis um fólk sum eru deyð í vannlukkum á landi, t.d. í kolanámunum í Hvalba, dottin oman á Lítlu Dímun ella sum eru dottin oman onkra staðnis í Hvalba ella har um leiðir. Nøvnini á myndini eru nøvnini á fólkunum sum lótu lív, tá Eggistoftabátinum, talan var um 10 mans úr Hvalba og eina kvinnu úr Havn. Vanlukkan hendi 21. mai 1835. Tveir menn og ein 9 ára gamal drongur fórust 17. februar 1811 á rivinum uttanfyri Skálamøl. Tveir menn duttu oman á Lítlu Dímun, ein doyði í Kolaminu í Grímsfjalli og 5 menn druknaðu uttanfyri Boðan á Sandi 30. august 1867.
