English: What do you expect to see when you look into a window of any typical residence from the street? This is what you get to see in some of the houses in Kathmandu valley, capital city of Nepal.
Traditional Newari Architecture is indigenous style of architecture used by the Newari people in the Kathmandu valley in Nepal. It is one of the most eco-friendly, sustainable, green architecture that has been practiced in Kathmandu valley for centuries but the introduction of new technologies like framed structure and its subsequent construction material has overtook the traditional construction technologies, materials and the architecture as a whole. Now, the condition of the valuable old remains of architecture is deprived of conservation and reconstruction. |
