Description

500px provided description: Deception Island is one of the South Shetland Islands. It is the caldera of an active volcano, which seriously damaged local scientific stations in 1967 and 1969.

When we visited Deception Island the foggy whether contributed to the almost surreal atmosphere.

Remains of previous structures at Whalers Bay include the British scientific station house (Biscoe House), with the middle torn out by the 1969 mudflows. [#Antarctica ,#Foggy ,#Vulcano ,#Deception Island]
