View from the Middle Bridge to the Loreto chapel in Fribourg, Switzerland
Object type building
Description
The Loreto Chapel is enthroned next to the Bürglentor (with tower), visible from afar on the rocky spur (Montorge) above the old town of Fribourg. It was built in 1647-1648 in honour of the Virgin Mary, to thank her for the fact that Freiburg was spared warlike destruction during the Thirty Years' War.
