Rückseite: VIII ID IAN [der achte Tag vor den Iden des Januar]. Freigelassenenkappe (pileus) zwischen zwei Dolchen (pugiones). Kommentar: Die Darstellung dieser Gussmedaille, sowohl die Art des Vorderseitenporträts als auch das berühmte Motiv der Rückseite, ist in offensichtlicher Rezeption der berühmten Denare des Caesarmörders Brutus (vgl. die Objektnummern 18202198 und 18204986) geschaffen worden. Material, Format und Gewicht ahmen kaiserzeitliche Sesterzen des 1. Jhs. n. Chr. nach. - Lorenzo (Lorenzino) de Medici (1514-1548) war der Sohn von Pierfrancesco II. und Mörder seines Vetters Alessandro de'Medici (am 5.-6. Januar 1537). Er selbst wiederum fiel auf der Flucht schließlich 1548 in Venedig einem Mordanschlag Cosimo I. de Medicis zum Opfer. Die Zuweisung dieser Medaille an Giovanni dal Cavino (1500-1576), wie von Habich vorgeschlagen, ist umstritten. Literatur: L.
