Summary
[edit]DescriptionLord Nelson at Ropley - geograph.org.uk - 1718068.jpg |
English: Lord Nelson at Ropley 850 Lord Nelson waits to depart Ropley Station with an Alresford bound service.
The 4-6-0 Lord Nelson class were built by the Southern Railway between 1926 and 1929 to a design of Charles Maunsell, originally for boat trains from London (Victoria) to Dover but later used for services from London (Waterloo) to South West England. They were withdrawn from service in 1961-2, with the first example built, Lord Nelson, being the only one of the 16 to be preserved. |
