Description

Looking west along the South Wales Main Line in South Gloucestershire, between a third and half a mile east of Bristol Parkway railway station, which is visible in the distance.

From left to right the tracks in the foreground are:

  • The line providing access to and from Stoke Gifford rail yard, which branches off the down line.
  • The "down" line - for trains towards Bristol and South Wales
  • The "up" line - for trains towards London
  • A siding.
Branching off the "up" line is the goods loop, which bypasses Bristol Parkway station. Branching off this in turn are the lines that served the now disused Royal Mail depot (the grey building on the right in the middle distance).
