| Description | The old staircase in the Gallery Bar at the George Inn, Southwark. There's been an inn on this site since Chaucer's day (his Canterbury Tales is set in the Tabard, which used to be next door), but the current building dates from 1677, although it was once much larger than it is now. Owned by the National Trust and leased to Greene King. A past haunt of Charles Dickens amongst others. |
