Summary

Description

The small tunnel on the left, at a slightly jaunty angle, is the Flåm railway tunnel. On the right are the bigger, more substantial tunnels of the mainline railway. Despite being a tiny place, Myrdal seemed to be a depot – the end of the line for local trains going into Voss and Bergen, and a through line for trains to Oslo.

As an aside, the odd system of Norwegian railway platform numbering was also prevalient here – the Flåm platform was number 11, which sat right next door to number 2 where we'd board the train back to Voss. Where the rest of the numbers went to, I can't tell you!

Taken on day 8 of our fjord based holiday in Norway.
