English: Looking down Main Street from the east This main street which runs along the level valley below Winster Bank, possesses an impressive sequence of fine houses, many of three storeys, largely dating from the village's period of great prosperity following the late C17 boom in lead mining. By 1750 the population had risen to 2000 and Winster was a boom town. |
