| Description |
English: Looking W along a drainage ditch Monkton Marshes. These ditches keep the area drained and suitable for farming. This area of marshland together with the Chislet Marshes 489281 to the NW are the result of the silting up of the valley, and 2000 years ago was under the sea which is the reason for the Isle of Thanet being an island |
