| Description |
English: Longstone Lighthouse & seals. Famous as the scene of the wreck of the Forfarshire and the exploits of Grace Darling in 1838, the lighthouse was established in 1826. It had major alterations in 1952 including conversion to electricity. The light is 23 metres above mean high water, and has an intensity of 3,200,000 candlepower. It flashes white every 20 seconds with a range of 29 sea miles. |
