English: Longbridge Muir - a Scottish raised bog. This area was once part of a huge forest in Nithsdale. This part of the forest was felled between 2001-2003 and dams built to restore the original drainage to allow the important raised bog habitat to redevelop. It will be a very slow process, as raised bogs develop over thousands of years. See 1273440 for more information. |
