Animal characteristics: Head-Body Length: 310-425 mm; Weight: 850-1100 g; Identification: The long-nosed bandicoot has a gray-brown coloring on its back with a cream-colored belly. Its muzzle is long and pointed, and it also has a reverse pouch; Habitat: Rainforest floor; Diet: Carnivore: insectivore; Reproduction: The long-nosed bandicoot breeds throughout the year. Gestation is only 12.5 days, after which the poorly developed newborn makes its way to the pouch. Up to five young may be born at once. Weaning occurs at 60 days; Social Structure: Long-nosed bandicoots are solitary, with the exception of breeding; Behavior: All activity takes place at night; Status: No special status.
