Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Two London Transport buses pictured heading east along St Paul's Church Yard in London. St Paul's Cathedral is out of shot on the left. On the left is a preserved example of the post-war RT class, touring London on the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the RT. On the right is an in-service example of the T-class, operating London Buses route 6. The RT is just 7.5 feet (2.29 metres) wide, and 7.5 tons, while the T is a full 2.5 m wide and very much heavier. Ironically, on any other day than today, the route 6 bus would still have been an open rear platform bus - a 1960s RML class Routemaster. One man operated buses like this T-class were introduced to the route on Sundays from June 1987 to cut staff numbers (ie no need for a conductor).
