Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A London Buses Ltd (London Forest Travel Ltd) bus pictured heading east along St Paul's Church Yard in London, operating London Buses route 6. St Paul's Cathedral is out of shot on the left. Easily identifiable from behind, the square rear window was unique to the T-class bus, the designation given to London deliveries of the Leyland Titan (B15), which formed the vast majority of the 1,185 production run. The small round shape at the bottom left of the bus is a circular 'dustbin lid' Leyland 'L' badge, which marks this out as one of the early production examples (later ones using a stylised lettered Leyland badge). Between 6 June 1987 and 23 November 1991 route 6 was jointly operated by Willesden garage (AC) and Ash Grove garage (AG), with both providing crew-operated open rear platform 1960s RML class Routemasters for Mon-Sat service, but with the Sunday service provided only by Ash Grove using these one-man operated Titans. By the time of this photograph, Ash Grove had become part of the London Forest subsidiary of London Buses, while Willesden was part of the Metroline subsidiary. It was pictured side by side with a preserved example of the RT class, the standard London bus for many decades, allowing a comparison of widths.
