English: 5 May 2016. Our local polling station was in the church hall in Mitchley Road, Tottenham. Election arrangements in Haringey seemed to go smoothly.
By contrast, in Barnet one of our neighbouring boroughs, the words 'blunder', 'shambles' and 'cock-up', appeared in newspaper reports, after voters were turned away because: "Thousands of names had been missed off electoral lists given to polling stations in the borough". Naturally a scapegoat was found to carry away the sins of the elected politicians. No less a personage than their Chief Executive Andrew Travers, who "stepped down" by “mutual agreement following the problems at all of the north London borough’s 155 polling stations." (Source) An Investigation into the shambles/cock-up/blunder was promised by Barnet Council. Mrs Angry, one of the borough's famous bloggers , keeps a close eye on what she calls "Broken Barnet". She described the sceptical view taken by Andrew Dismore (London Assembly Member) into this Investigation.
