| Description |
The London Studios (see note) is the former home of London Weekend Television (LWT) which broadcasted on the ITV Network between 1968 and October 2002. The former LWT studios is still owned by ITV plc and is currently the main studios for the ITV network in England & Wales (Scotland has STV, Northern Ireland still has Ulster Television - U-TV) and is also for ITV London at "regional level". It's broadcast area was the whole of London and the Home Counties (Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Berkshire et, all) LWT's programmes include Blind Date, The South Bank Show, Sunday Night at the London Palladium, Beadle's About and of course my favourites such as The Profressionals, Dempsey and Makepeace and London's Burning amongst others. LWT broadcasted between Friday evening from about 5pm until 6am on Monday morning. London and the Home Counties other main regional TV station on the ITV Network was Thames Television which lost it's franchise in 1991 and broadcasted for the last time on New Year's Eve 1992.
